Iva McCreary

Mrs. Iva McCreary, 89, of Elba, died Monday, Sept. 30, 2002 at Southeast Alabama Medical Center, Dothan.

Funeral services will be held at Hayes Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2002 at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. John I. Baxter officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery of Elba.

Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Mary Carole and Gene Allen of Dothan; grandsons and granddaughters-in-law, Dr. Jon and Tereasa Ward,

Dr. Allen Ward and Dr. Kim Ward, all of Andalusia; granddaughter, Susan Ward of Flagstaff, Az.; granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Nell and Dennis Eishen of Columbus, Ga.; and five great grandchildren.

Mrs. McCreary was a dedicated member of Elba United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband Dr. V.D. McCreary

Kathleen Portemont Bush

Mrs. Kathleen Portemont Bush, 78, of Andalusia, died Friday, Sept. 27, 2002 in a Birmingham hospital.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 30, 2002 at Foreman Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Jason Green officiating. Special music was provided by Marilyn Williams, soloist, Martha Givhan, organist.

Survivors included two daughters and sons-in-law, Vicki Bush of Andalusia, Paul and Rusty Bush of Athens; two grandchildren, Ty Brooks; and Kelsey Brooks of Athens, Ga.; one brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Betty Portemont of Phillipsburg, Ohio; one sister, Mary LeMay of Andalusia; sister-in-law, Marilyn Portemont; brother-in-law, Jack Harper of Brazil, Indiana and a number of nieces and newphews.

Pallbearers will be Terry Portemont, J.T. Portemont, Ty Brooks, Bubba Evers, Scotty Hooper, Anthony Ammons, Cam Ammons and Heath Hooper.

Roscoe Solomon

Mr. Roscoe Solomon, 81, of Florala, died Monday, Sept. 30, 2002 in a Florala hospital.

He was retired from the U.S. Army with 30 years service.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, 2002, with full military honors, at Foreman Funeral Home with Rev. Roland Norris officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery.

Survivors include wife, Jeanette Solomon of Florala; three daughters, Sue Coffman of Apollo, Pa.; Diane Brown of Tampa, Fla; Linda Messick of Wetumpka; four sons, Bill Solomon of Orlando, Mark Solomon of Daytona, Fla., Larry Solomon, of Powder Springs, Ga., Kenneth Solomon of Shreveport, La., 10 grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary Janice Cottle of Straughn; two brothers, Willie Ray Solomon of Montgomery and Jimmy Solomon.
