A Red Level teen is lucky after sustaining only minor injuries when another vehicle allegedly ran him off the road, causing his vehicle to flip numerous times.
Cory Wheeden, 18, was driving a 1997 Jeep southbound on State Route 55 shortly after 4 p.m. when law enforcement said Wheeden reported “something big and red” ran him off the road just before North Creek Automotive.
“Mr. Wheeden was lucky,” said Alabama State Trooper Tracy Morgan. “He said someone ran him off the road. His vehicle left the roadway and flipped about three times before coming to rest at the bottom of the hill.”
Morgan said Wheeden suffered minor injuries and was transported to Andalusia Regional Hospital by Advanced EMS.
The accident remains under investigation.
Representatives from the Covington County Sheriff’s Office and the Red Oak Volunteer Fire Department also responded to the accident.
