AHS girls overcome adversity

GULF SHORES – Andalusia’s Ellie Pollock hit the game winning RBI single in the bottom of the eighth inning to help lead her team to a 2-1 victory over UMS-Wright in the first round of the loser’s bracket Friday at the Class 4A South Regional Softball Tournament in Gulf Shores.
The Lady Bulldogs will play the loser of the St. James-Thomasville game Saturday morning at 8.
In other tournament action, Straughn defeated Abbeville 4-0 in Class 3A, and Pleasant Home beat Ariton 5-1 in Class 1A.
Straughn plays Geneva, and Pleasant Home plays Fruitdale tonight at 8.
Earlier Friday, Andalusia lost to Dallas County 3-0.
