While students are taking a break from school, improvements are coming to W.S. Harlan Elementary School in Lockhart.

Speaker of the House Seth Hammett and state Sen. Jimmy Holley today announced a $12,000 state Community Services Grant to help the school update its computer lab, make library improvements and purchase new books and upgrade playground equipment.

“This money will help Harlan Elementary provide students with the up-to-date tools they need in both academic and physical education classes,” Hammett said.

Holley said the grant amounts to about $40 for each of the school’s 300 students.
