An Opp man is dead following an early Wednesday morning motorycle accident, officials said.

Witnesses at the scene said that Eric Joseph Sysskind, 49, was traveling west on Cummings Avenue on a 1996 Honda motorcycle, when the vehicle left the roadway and veered onto Railroad Avenue, causing him to lose control.

He was thrown from the motorcycle.

Opportunity EMS transported Sysskind to Mizell Memorial Hospital, where he died as a result of the injuries, Opp Police Department Investigator Lt. Mark Kyser said.

This is the second motorcycle accident in less than a week to claim the life of a Covington County resident.

On Friday, Victor Joe Davis crashed his 2008 Harley Davidson on Finks Mill Road in Florala. He was 51.
