Auburn plans to add 1, 2 new oaks at corner

Auburn fans may have one or two new oak trees to roll in the coming seasons, but they’ll have to wait a while before they let the toilet tissue arch over the trees’ high branches.

A special committee recommended that the university replace the dying Toomer’s Corner oaks by planting one or two large trees and using a temporary structure to celebrate victories until the new trees have planted roots, according to www.al.com.

The report from the committee will land on Auburn President Jay Gogue’s desk this week.

If the plan is approved, fans won’t notice a change at the corner until 2013, or later.
