Saints split wins in opener

With a 4-2 lead in the bottom of the sixth inning, LBWCC scored four runs and the Saints beat Wallace State-Dothan 8-2 on Friday at the T.J. Fleming Invitational tournament at Crum Foshee Field in Andalusia.

The Saints got off to a rough start in their season-opener to Enterprise State, falling 3-2 after squandering a 2-1 lead late in the contest.

The Saints will play Marion Military at 3:30 p.m. today, and Alabama Southern at 3 p.m. tomorrow to complete the tournament.

LBWCC 8, Wallace State 2

Saints’ third-baseman Chad Dickinson had three hits and scored two runs to help lead LBWCC to the win.

Andalusia native Aaron Haag and Florida native Hunter Boutwell had two hits a piece along with one run. Haag had three RBIs.

The Saints led 2-0 going into the fifth inning, where Wallace State scored one run to cut the lead.

LBWCC added two runs in the bottom of the fifth, and four additional runs in the sixth to seal the win.

ESCC 3, LBWCC 2

The Saints led 2-1 after the fourth inning, but ESCC scored one run each in the fifth and sixth innings to get the win.

Dickinson and Andrew Crane had one RBI each for the Saints.

Josh Thompson was 3-of-3 and scored one run for LBWCC.

Raymond Moody pitched 2.0 innings, struck out three and allowed three runs on four hits in the loss.
