Saints sweep Alabama Southern

LBWCC beat Alabama Southern 3-1 and 5-4 in conference doubleheader action at Crum Foshee Field in Andalusia on Saturday.

The Saints improve to 13-11 on the season, and 6-4 in the South Conference.

LBWCC will visit Enterprise State Community College today for another conference doubleheader. First pitch is slated for noon.

Alabama Southern 1

Gavin Free, of Opp, pitched 5.1 innings and allowed one earned run, five hits and struck out three to earn the win for the Saints on the mound. Conner Pinegar struck out one and allowed one hit to get the save.

Chad Dickinson went 2-for-2 with two RBIs and Ryan Barnes had two hits for the Saints.

LBWCC scored on two runs in the second inning and added the game-winning run in the fourth.

Alabama Southern 4

Saints’ second baseman Chad Dickinson went 2-for-2 with two RBIs to help lead LBWCC to the first-game win.

Alabama Southern took a 1-0 lead in the second inning, and the Saints scored a run in the fourth to tie the game up.

LBWCC rallied and scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth after Alabama Southern added three runs in the top half of the frame.

In spite of the run differential between the two teams, Alabama Southern out-hit LBWCC 10-6.

Other than Dickinson, Barnes had two hits; and Andrew Crane and David Carter had one hit each.

Four Alabama Southern players had two hits each.

Alex Stevens pitched 0.2 innings allowed one run on two hits and struck out two to get the win on the mound.
