A River Falls man is in jail after he allegedly knocked his wife unconscious in a convenience store parking lot with a motorcycle helmet and then kidnapped her.

Lt. Paul Dean with the Andalusia Police Department said patrons at the Kangaroo convenience store called 911 to report that a man, later identified as Tony L. Wilkerson, had struck a woman in the head with a motorcycle helmet and thrown her into a car shortly before 3 p.m.

Dean said the victim was identified as Glenda Marie Ward, who was separated from Wilkerson.

He said sheriff’s deputies located the Wilkerson and the Pontiac Grand Prix on Cty. Rd. 107 less than five minutes later and took Wilkerson into custody.

“We don’t know what (Wilkerson’s) intentions were, but we are truly thankful we were able to resolve the situation quickly before it escalated,” Dean said.

He said Ward was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

Wilkerson was charged with kidnapping I, domestic violence II and violation of a protection order. He was booked into the county jail and held on a $775,000 bond.
