Saints beat JDCC in doubleheader

LBWCC bounced back from a 12-run loss to Jefferson Davis Community College on Thursday, and beat the Warhawks 12-1, 5-0 in a conference doubleheader on Saturday at Crum Foshee Field in Andalusia.

With these victories, the Saints improve to 24-14 overall, and 14-7 in the ACCC South Conference.

LBWCC 5, JDCC 0 (Game 2)

David Carter went 1-for-2 with a home run to lead the Saints. Carter hit a homer in game one against JDCC to finish with two for the day.

The Saints got on board early with a run in the first inning to take a 1-0 lead. LBWCC added three runs in the third inning and one in the fifth.

Opp native Josh Thompson and Chad Dickinson went 3-for-4 each to lead the Saints. Andalusia native Aaron Haag and Ryan Barnes went 2-for-4 each.

Additionally, Opp native Zack Sasser went 1-for-3 with two RBIs. Carter led the Saints with three RBIs in the closer.

Thomas Dorminy pitched 6.2 innings and allowed no runs on four hits and struck out eight batters to get the win.

Gavin Free, of Opp, pitched 0.1 innings and struck out one in the no decision.

LBWCC 12, JDCC 1

Carter and Dickinson had one home run each to lead the Saints, who scored three runs each in the second and third innings and four runs in the fourth to take a 10-1 lead.

Raymond Moody pitched five innings and allowed no runs on five hits and struck out three to get the win. Josh Dewrell, of Straughn, pitched two innings and struck out one and allowed no hits to get the save.

Dickinson finished 3-for-3 for the Saints; Carter went 1-for-2; and Barnes went 2-for-3.

The Saints will host Faulkner State Community College in their next conference series, beginning Thursday in a single game, and ending with a doubleheader on Saturday.

First pitch is slated for 2 p.m. on Thursday. The doubleheader will get underway at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
