Saints split Saturday

LBWCC split in its weekend conference series at Alabama Southern on Saturday, claiming the first game 13-11, and then falling 7-6 in a close second game.

The Saints entered the weekend’s contests on a 6-5 loss to Alabama Southern the previous day.

The game was tied 3-3 in the third inning, but ASCC scored five runs in the fourth and tacked on two in the fifth to take a 10-4 lead.

LBWCC roared back to score five runs in the sixth and added four runs in the seventh, compared to ASCC’s one run in the last two innings to end up with the win.

ASCC bounced back in the second game, getting ahead 4-0 early in the first inning.

The Saints scored one run in the fourth and sixth innings before adding four in the seventh to get to a 6-5 lead.

ASCC scored one run in the bottom half of the frame to get the tie, and added one run in the eighth to get the win.

The Saints (27-17 overall, 17-10 in ACCC Southern Conference) will end their regular season conference play on Friday and Saturday at home against Enterprise State. There will be a single game on Friday, and then a doubleheader on Saturday.
