Bessie Voncile Grantham

Mrs. Bessie Voncile Grantham, age 92, of Andalusia, died Fri., May 4, 2012, in an Opp hospital.

Services for Mrs. Grantham were held at 2 p.m. on Mon., May 7, 2012, from the Foreman Funeral Home chapel. Minister Terry Stewart officiated, with interment in the Heath Cemetery.

Mrs. Grantham is survived by her husband, Rufus D. Grantham of Andalusia; three daughters, Barbara (Rickey) Terry of Andalusia, Sandra Gail Grantham of Andalusia, and Karen Priscilla (Michael) Piland of Andalusia; two sons, U.S. Navy Aviation Ordinanceman (Ret.) Timothy Ray Grantham, and wife, Vicki, of Enterprise, and U.S. Navy Chief Aviation Structural Mechanic (Ret.) Phillip W. Grantham and his wife, Myra, of Andalusia; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Wanda Gail Turner

Mrs. Wanda Gail Turner, 66, of Florala died Thurs., May 3, 2012, in a Dothan hospital. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Mon., May 7, 2012, at Foreman Brown-Service Funeral Home with the family leading the service. Interment followed at North Creek Cemetery.

Mrs. Turner is survived by her husband, John Turner of Florala; daughters and sons-in-law, Michelle (Duane) O’Neal of Andalusia, Lisa (Steve) Price of Crestview, Fla., Connie Mauer of Roberta, Ga.; sons and daughter-in-law, Jonathon Turner of Pensacola, Fla., Jason (Amy) Turner of Pace, Fla., and Kenny Mauer of Florala; and her brother, Randy (Ann) Wright of Andalusia.

Pallbearers were Jason Turner, Jonathon Turner, Tyler Mauer, Jerry Turner, Steve Price, and Blayne Pruett.

Barbara Barrow Whiddon

Barbara Barrow Whiddon, 73, of Scottsboro, Ala., died Sat., May 5, 2012, at Highland Medical Center.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. today, Tues., May 8, 2012, from Scottsboro Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. James Purnell officiating. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m.

Mrs. Whiddon is survived by her husband, Waylon Whiddon of Scottsboro; her son, Scott (Karen) Whiddon of Huntsville; daughter, Tina (Jeff) Littleson, Madison, Ala.; two granddaughters, Jessica Kootsouradis of Mission Vieja, Calif, and Alexander Kootsouradis of Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.; her sister, Peggy Estradra of Fairhope; her brother, Fleet Barrow Jr. of Columbiana, Ala.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

 

Joel A. Marshall

Joel A. Marshall, age 72 , of Andalusia passed away Sat., May 5, 2012, in the Andalusia hospital.

Servivces will be at 2 p.m. Wed., May 9, 2012, at Keahey Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Joe Jackson and the Rev. Pete Roberts officiating.

Burial will follow in Stone Lake Gardens with Keahey Funeral Home directing.

Visitation will be from 6 until 8 tonight, Tues., May 8, 2012, at Keahey Funeral Chapel.

Mr. Marshall is survived by his wife, Nancy Carol Stevenson Marshall of Andalusia; son, Tyler (Carol) Graham of Andalusia; stepsons, Terry Bishop, William Bishop, Richard Bishop, and Fred Upton; daughters, Susan Stephens and Rebecca Vandyke; brother, Ray Marshall of Opp; sisters, Willie Ruth Edgar of Opp, Bertha Lee (James) Thompson of Opp, Bonnie (Bobby) Flowers of Slocomb, and Mary Johnson of the Bullock Community. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mr. Marshall was preceded in death by his parents, George Washington Marshall and Nettie Pearl Vance, as well as 18 brothers and sisters.
