The Alabama women’s golf team won its first national championship Friday, defeating two-time champion Southern California by one stroke on the last hole to capture the NCAA Division 1 in Franklin, Tenn.

This was Alabama’s eighth trip to the national tournament, and the Crimson Tide’s title win gave the university its third national title this year. The football team and women’s gymnastics won their respective titles.

The Crimson Tide finished at 6-over 294 in the fourth round for a 19-over 1,171 total.

SCU trailed UA buy 14 strokes after the first two rounds, and by two going into the final round.

Brooke Pancake, a senior, helped the Tide clinch the title when she rolled a 4-footer for par on No. 18.
