Cubs beat Brewers 9-6; D’Backs rout Pirates

The Cubs scored five runs in the third inning and went on to beat the Brewers 9-6 in 9-to-10-year-old Cal Ripken action on Monday night at Johnson Park.

J. Wilson, C. Morgan and S. Williams scored two runs each to lead the Cubs. Garrett Simpler scored three runs to lead the Brewers.

The Brewers scored three runs in the first inning and two runs in the second inning to take a 5-2 lead. They added one run in the fourth inning.

In the 9-10 girls action, Straughn Black edged Red Level 12-11.

Straughn scored six runs in the first and six runs in the second in the win.

Red Level scored six runs in the first inning, and added three runs in the second and two runs in the third.

Hicks, Ray, Ramer and Harrison scored two runs each for Straughn. Amy, Taylor and Jenna had two runs each for Red Level.

11-to-12-year-old boys

The A’s beat the Indians 10-7 on Saturday after the field ceremonies at Johnson Park.

K. Mancil went 4-for-4 with a home run for the A’s, and D. Scruggs went 2-for-4.

For the Indians, Kelley, Warden and Hinson had one hit each.

In other action, the D’Backs beat the Pirates 12-2.

The D’Backs scored five runs in the third inning, and six runs in the fifth inning.

In girls action, the Titans beat the Bulldogs 16-5.
