An unidentified motorist was injured Monday after leading state and local law enforcement officers on a chase along Interstate 65 in Butler County.

At approximately 12:15 p.m., the Alabama State Trooper Post in Evergreen received a call from a motorist traveling north on Interstate 65, Trooper Kevin Cook, public information and education specialist, said.

The motorist reported that a gray pickup was traveling north at a high rate of speed and driving recklessly. Troopers were dispatched to the area and initiated pursuit when the driver of the pickup refused to stop.

The truck continued traveling north on I-65, running other vehicles off the road and

striking two Greenville Police Department patrol cars and an Alabama State Trooper patrol car. At Exit 114, the subject attempted to run over another trooper and struck the trooper’s marked patrol car before coming to rest. The driver of the pickup was injured and was air-lifted to Baptist Medical Center South in Pensacola for treatment.

No law enforcement officers or other motorists were injured during the incident.
