Looking for a new passion or simply a hobby to pass the time? The Opp Cultural Arts Council may have the answer for you.

Spokesperson Peggy Linton said this week that there are three upcoming classes available for locals.

The first class, taught by James Barnes on Monday nights, will feature basic drawing techniques.

“The four- to six-week class will be on Monday nights, starting on Sept. 17th, from 6-8 p.m., with between six and 10 students,” Linton said. The cost will be $20 per class.

Next, Liz McDaniel Reid will teach three basic art classes on Tuesdays from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. The cost will be $175.

“This class will be studying basic drawing, value, color, and shading using several different mediums,”Linton said. “We would need at least six and no more 10 people for this class.

Last but not least, Reid will teach an “adult fun painting class” on Tuesday nights from 6-9 p.m.

“Each week she will offer a different subject to paint and you can see them in the windows of OCAC with the date they will be offered,” Linton said. ” These classes will be in acrylic and all supplies will be included in the cost.”

Each class must be signed up for individually and paid for in advance. Classes must have at least eight and no more than 12.”

Dates of the classes will be determined in the coming days, Linton said.
