UPDATE: OHS resumes school after threat

Published 12:59pm Friday, September 14, 2012

Classes have resumed at Opp High School after a bomb threat was called in Friday morning.

Officials removed the students from the school, and all students are reported to be safe.

Law enforcement officials and fire fighters secured the building.

“We had a very benign incident where an idiot with nothing better to do elected to disrupt the educational process for our students,” said Opp City Schools Superintendent Michael Smithart. “Our administrators took the appropriate steps to secure our students. We want to thank the Opp Police Department, the Covington County Sheriff Department, local ABC officers and the Drug Task Force for their assistance. We have resumed our school day.”

We will continue to update when more info becomes available.
