RUTH ELLEN NUTT

Ruth Ellen Nutt, 85, of Andalusia, passed away Thurs, Sept. 20, 2012, in Andalusia Regional Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Mon., Sept. 24, at Foreman Funeral Home with Brother Fred Kelley officiating and burial will follow at the River Falls Cemetery. Visitation will be tomorrow night from 6-8 at Foreman Funeral Home.

She was one whose door was always open, whose house all the kids wanted to visit, and the one who always had something good to say about everyone. She was a favorite aunt, loving sister, devoted wife, beloved sister-in-law and mother-in-law, the grandest grandmother and a loving mother. She was always one strong in her faith.

She is survived by her husband, Clarence Nutt of Andalusia; three sons and daughters-in-law, Walter (Lois) Harris of Pleasant Home, Tommy (Sara) Harris and Jackie Harris, all of Andalusia; two daughters, Ellen Self and Sabra Barnes, all of Andalusia; two sisters, Georgia Frasier of Crenshaw County and Jessie Jewel Franklin of Andalusia; her brother, Paul Neil of Andalusia; 16 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Nettie and Boney Neil; her sister, Katherine Duke; her first husband, Jessie Taft Harris; her daughters, Polly Gunter and Mary McKinley; and one son, Bobby Dewayne Harris.

 

EDYTHE MILA HOLMES

Edythe Mila Holmes, 92 of Troy, died Sat., Sept. 15, 2012 at Troy Health & Rehabilitation.

Graveside services will be held today, Sat., Sept. 22, at 2 p.m., at Green Hills Memorial

Cemetery with Dr. Luke Lane officiating and Green Hills Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at Green Hills Funeral Home.

She was an active member and Sunday school teacher at the First Baptist Church of Troy.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Frank Holmes; father, Isaac Motes; mother, Era Mae Reddock Motes; and six brothers and sisters.

She is survived by one son, Frank Wayne Holmes (Judy) of Andalusia; brothers, John Presley Motes (Betty) of Mobile and Donald Wayne Motes of Houston, Texas; grandchildren, Michael Wayne Holmes (Deanna) of Bessemer and Jeffery Lane Holmes (Mary) of Mobile; and a great-grandchild, Lexie Conner Holmes.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Troy, The American Cancer Society, The Diabetes Association or the charity of one’s choice.
