Yoga event Sunday night

Published 1:32am Saturday, September 29, 2012

As part of National Yoga Month, “A Time for Yoga: A Global Community Yoga Practice,” is set for 7 p.m. Sun., Sept. 30, in the parish hall at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church located on East Three Notch Street in Andalusia.

This is the second year for this free yoga class open to everyone including those who have never practiced yoga as well as students at all levels. It is a one-hour yoga practice followed by savasana (relaxation) at 8 p.m., and then a 15-minute meditation for universal peace and well-being at 8:15 p.m.

The class is structured so anyone can comfortably take part in it. The intent of the meditation is to join others across the globe in a desire for peace. That is why at 7 p.m. in each class’s local time zone, yoga students of all experience levels are encouraged to practice yoga as an international observance that creates a wave of yoga around the globe.

There is no charge for the class, but anyone who wishes can make a donation, which will go to the local American Red Cross.
