WHEELER A. GUNNELS

Wheeler A. Gunnels, M.D., 76, of Opp died Tues., Oct. 16, 2012, in Mizell Memorial Hospital. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thurs., Oct. 18, 2012, at Wyatt Funeral Home. The family will begin receiving friends at 9:30 am.

Dr. Gunnels is survived by his wife, Betty Wise Gunnels; daughter and son-in-law, Jan & Andy Burcham; daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Doug Nordeman; and granddaughters, Emma and Katie Nordeman. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sara Lilla and James Lester Gunnels.

At the time of his death Dr. Gunnels served on the Covington County Bank board of directors.

Gary Miller will be officiating with Wyatt Funeral Home directing.

HAZEL BLOCKER DUBOSE MCLANE

Hazel Blocker DuBose McLane, 77, of Opp, passed away Mon., Oct. 15, 2012, at her residence.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Thurs., Oct. 18, at Keahey Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Carol Parker officiating. Interment will follow in Old Mormon Tabernacle Cemetery. Eulogy will be given by Jayme DuBose.

The family will receive friends tonight from 5-7 at Keahey Funeral Home.

Survivors include her husband, William Bill McLane of Opp; son, J.V. and Rhonda DuBose of Dozier; daughter, Kathy and Michael Jones of Opp; brothers, J.L. (Evelyn) Blocker of Laurel Hill, Fla., and Johnnie “Buddy” (Dorene) Blocker of Loveland, Col.; sisters, Onell (Gerald) Anderson of Hornhill amd Frankie Luschen; grandchildren, Jennifer Palmer, Michell Jowers, Eric Morrow, Justin Morrow, Whitney Dubose, Brittany DuBose Matthews, Dennis O’Neal and Darrin O’Neal; and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her former husband, Odis Jackson DuBose.

WILLODEAN ODOM HESS

Willodean Odom Hess, 72, of Andalusia, died Mon., Oct. 15, 2012, in the Andalusia hospital.

Funeral services are incomplete and will be announced by Foreman Funeral Home.

 

ROGER ALAN TYSON

Roger Alan Tyson, 55, of Andalusia, died Mon., Oct. 15, 2012.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Thurs., Oct. 18, at the Andalusia Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. Tim Trent officiating the service.

 

KATHLEEN TAYLOR CHANDLER

Kathleen Taylor Chandler, 76, of Dozier, died Fri., Oct. 12, 2012, in the Andalusia hospital.

Funeral services were held on Mon., Oct. 15, from Foreman Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Stephen DuBose officiating and burial following in Leon Cemetery in Dozier.

Survivors include her husband, Lawrence Ray Chandler; her son and daughter-in-law, Donnie Ray and Nancy Chandler, all of Dozier; daughter and son-in-law, Katie and Stephen DuBose of Brantley; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a brother, Donald Wayne Taylor of Opp; and sister, Lottie Mae Walker of Dozier.

She is preceded in death by her sister, LeMerle Clark, and brother, William Eugene Taylor.

Pallbearers were Adam Chandler, Adam DuBose, Greg Walker, Billy Taylor, Lynn Biggs and Hayward DuBose.
