Still time to join study, help with cancer research

Published 12:00am Wednesday, November 7, 2012

All we need is about 90 more people to sign up to reach our community’s goal of having 250 area residents participate in the American Cancer Society’s Cancer Prevention Study-3 (CPS3).
The study is designed to help researchers understand the genetic, environmental, and lifestyle factors that cause or prevent cancer. Participants will enroll and schedule a time on Nov. 13 or 14 to have blood drawn at PowerSouth, the Cancer Society’s local corporate partner. Meanwhile, they will complete a comprehensive survey, expected to take about 45 minutes, about their health and family histories.
This is a simple thing that anyone between the ages of 30 and 65 who’s never had cancer can do to help scientists determine causes and preventions. Participation costs the trouble of completing a survey and a quick physical next week.
If you or anyone you know fits the criteria, please take time to enroll. The process is simple. Visit www.cps3covington.org or call toll-free, 1.888.604.5888.
