A pre-Thanksgiving roundup by the Andalusia Police Department sent four alleged drug dealers to jail.

Sgt. Roger Cender said Wednesday the arrests stemmed from an operation in the works “for several weeks” and made over the last two days.

“Some of these cases have been in the works for months and cover a variety of controlled substances from marijuana and prescription pills to cocaine,” Cender said. “These arrests are the result of our investigative division working both narcotics and criminal cases.”

Cender said each arrest was made after a confidential informant or undercover officer made “buys” of controlled substances in more than two separate incidents.

Arrested on distribution of a controlled substance charge was Victor Flowers for marijuana; Rachel Frank and Ricky Joe Burgans for a variety of prescription pills; and Donte Curry for cocaine. Each was booked into the Covington County Jail on a $100,000 bond; however, Flowers was also charged with conspiracy to distribute and held on a $120,000 bond.

“And you can expect we’ll be arresting others in the next week,” Cender said.
