The Andalusia City Council gave its final approval to changes in a zoning ordinance amendment that will allow the LBW Foundation to construct student apartments adjacent to the college.

The LBW Foundation Board is building the apartments in partnership with a developer. There will be 24, four-bedroom units, providing housing for 96 students. If the council approves the change later this month, construction will begin in January.

The apartments will be located behind Shadowood, but will be accessible from the LBW campus.

In separate action, the council transferred the River Falls Street project from the city to the Industrial Development Board.

The council also:

• approved a liquor license for Regina Coursey at Pitt Stop Lounge, located adjacent to Old Mexico.

• reappointed Ricky Jones to the Utilities Board.
