The driver of a loaded log truck was trapped inside his overturned vehicle for nearly two hours Monday night before being air lifted to a trauma facility.

A bevy of first responders responded to the crash, which occurred just after 6 p.m. on Finks Mill Road in the southeastern part of the county.

According to members of the Florala Volunteer Fire Department, the log truck was found upside down in the ditch, and Gregory Gene Paul, 43, of Laurel Hill, Fla., trapped inside.

Luckily, Paul was conscious and able to communicate with emergency personnel.

Reports indicate that, despite attempts to free the driver of the truck with the Jaws of Life, a hydraulic ram and the Opp Fire Department’s air bags, the Opp Exxon had to use their heavy duty

wrecker boom to lift the truck enough to free Paul’s arm from the

wreckage.

Paul was transported by the Flat Iron helicopter to an unknown trauma center.

Alabama State Troopers continue to investigate the cause of the accident.
