The Red Level boys and girls basketball teams got out to very different starts in the opening games of their home Christmas tournament.

The Lady Tigers never could get things going and Elba capitalized on several turnovers caused by their smothering full court press to jump out to an early first quarter lead, 20-4.

The halftime score was 46-16, but the Red Level girls performed much better in the second half, only losing 18-14 to bring the final to 64-30.

Shelby Holley paced the Lady Tigers with 11 points.

The Red Level boys’ team fared much better.

They more than doubled Flomaton’s score in each quarter of play, jumping out to a halftime lead of 28-13.

The most impressive stat in the Tigers’ big win was their defensive effort in the fourth quarter.

They only gave up two points in the entire final period.

A noteworthy moment in the game was Justin Maddox’s fourth quarter dunk, a spectacle that sent the home crowd into a frenzy.

K.J. Lawrence led the Tigers in scoring with 20 points.

The Red Level boys’ team moves on to play tonight at 7:30 in the winners’ bracket and the Lady Tigers play today at 9 a.m.
