The fugitive who used a Covington County’s man truck as one of his many getaway vehicles was captured Tuesday night.

Robert Wood Jr. was apprehended after a six-hour standoff in Brevard County, Fla., police reported.

Wood allegedly stole the local man’s truck after robbing a Geneva convenience store Monday. It was later recovered.

Wood’s crime spree allegedly began after he escaped from a Delaware prison work program in December, and then pulled off two armed robberies before fleeing to Florida.

Wood was being held on sexual battery charges, and failed to return after being on an authorized pass from the Sussex Community Corrections Center in Georgetown, Del.

He is suspected of committing two armed robberies in Alabama and another in Florida.

Wood was found at a relative’s home in a mobile home park on Merritt Island. Fla., and was taken into custody following a six-hour standoff with police.
