DAISY OWENS

Daisy Owens, 91, of Andalusia, passed away Tues., Jan. 8, 2013, in the local hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., today, Thurs., Jan. 10, at Harmony Baptist Church with the Rev. Greg Cotter officiating and burial following in Harmony Church Cemetery with Keahey Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services.

Survivors include son, Marvin Lee (Elaine) Owens of Andalusia; daughter, Shirley Jean (Bob) McKain of Fernandina Beach, Fla.; two brothers, V.C. Sasser of Andalusia and

James William (Genice) Sasser of Bonifay, Fla.; four grandchildren, Manuel Owens, Brian Owens, Donna Hutcheson and Missy Madden; and nine great-grandchildren.

 

BONNIE HERRINGTON SOLES

Bonnie Herrington Soles, 81, of Andalusia, passed away Tues., Jan. 8, 2013, at Mizell Memorial Hospital in Opp.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., today, Thurs., Jan. 10, from Foreman Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Sonny Steele officiating and interment following in the Andalusia Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will be at Foreman Funeral Home one hour prior to the service.

Survivors include her husband, Bobby Soles of Andalusia; son and daughter-in-law, Bobby (Gail) Soles of Spanish Fort; grandson, Andy Soles; two sisters, Judy Baggett of Daphne and Betty Reynolds of Kansas City, Kan.; and her brother and sister-in-law, Lewis (Sherry) Herrington of Purvis, Miss.

Pallbearers will be Andy Soles, Jim Baggett, David Baggett, Don Powell, Danny Gantt and Don Ingram.

The family requests no flowers. Instead, memorials may be made to Rawls Baptist Church or the charity of one’s choice.

COL. (RET.) DOUGLAS H. RABREN

Col. (Ret.) Douglas H. Rabren, 58, of Stafford, Va., went home to his Lord and Savior on Dec. 23, 2012.

The family received friends Sat., Jan. 5, at Mullins & Thom-pson Funeral Home in Stafford, Va. A funeral service was held on Sun., Jan. 6, at the same location. A final viewing will be held today, Thurs., Jan. 10, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., at Foreman Funeral Home in Andalusia with interment following in Andalusia Memorial Cemetery.

He was born March 12, 1954, in Mobile. He was the son of the late Willie Simon and Lila Grey Rabren. He was a retired colonel from the United States Army and was currently employed at ASM Research in Fairfax, Va. He was an active member of Victory Baptist Church in Stafford.

His family includes his wife, Deborah; eldest son, Brandon, and his wife, Cathy; grandchildren Jackson Douglas and MacKenna Susan; younger son, Zachary, and his wife, Amy;  brother, Bill, and his wife, Frances; mother-in-law Willene Ray Odom; sister-in-law Patti Odom Henagan and husband, Pat; and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Victory Baptist Church of Stafford, Va.; the American Cancer Society; Habitat for Humanity, or ACTS of Prince William County, Va.

 

WYLENE WILLIAMS

Wylene Williams, 91, most recently of Mobile, but a lifelong resident of Andalusia, died Jan. 8, 2013, of Alzheimer’s disease.

Visitation will be held at Beda Baptist Church on Sat., Jan 12, at 1 p.m., followed by funeral services at 2 p.m. Interment will be at Zion Rock Cemetery.

She was born in Andalusia on Feb. 8, 1921. She earned her nursing certificate from MacArthur State Technical College in 1967. She, along with her husband, Fred Williams, and later individually, was owner of Blue Lake Grocery of Andalusia for many years.

She was a lifelong active member of Beda Baptist Church of Wing before to moving to Mobile and was a later a member of Woodbridge Baptist Church in Mobile.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Riley and Maggie Bass; her husband, Fred Williams; her sister, Myrtice Bass Padgett; and her brothers, Hiram Bass and Gordon Bass.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda (Brian) Kloter of Mobile, and her brothers Clint Bass and Wayne (Dewain)  Bass of Andalusia, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and freat-nephews.

Gilmer’s Funeral Home of Mobile, Alabama is in charge of services.

 

LUCILLE JACOBS

BOZEMAN

Lucille Jacobs Bozeman passed away Jan. 7, 2013, in a local nursing facility.

She was born in Covington County on Oct. 2, 1922, to Alice and Harvey Jacobs. She married T. C. Bozeman in 1944. A Navy career afforded them many traveling experiences. After retirement, the Bozeman’s returned to the Carolina Community where they had grown up.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Fri., Jan. 11, at the Carolina Baptist Church with interment in Carolina Cemetery with her nephews, Dexter Wood and Ben Barrow, officiating. Visitation will be at the church one hour prior to the service. Foreman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

She is preceded in death by her husband, T. C. Bozeman; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Mandrak and Sybil Jacobs, Don and Carrie Jacobs, Walker and Helen Jacobs and Garland and Ethel Jacobs; and her sister, Mary Hutto.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Erin Bozeman of Jacksonville, Fla.; a grandson, Steven Bozeman; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Esther and Benny Barrow and Ruth and Charles Lawson, all of Andalusia, and Hazel Wood of Birmingham; a brother and sister-in-law, Gene and Dean Jacobs of Andalusia; a brother-in-law, Donald Hutto; and many nieces and nephews.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Carolina Baptist Church.

Pallbearers will be Steve Lawson, Ricky Jacobs, Larry Stallings, Ronald Jacobs, Tim Jacobs, and Micah Garner.

Voncille Sasser of Andalusia passed away Wed., Jan. 9, 2013, in a local nursing facility.
