RUTH JEAN HAYSE

Ruth Jean Hayse of Gantt passed away Wed., Jan. 9, 2013, in the Andalusia hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Sat., Jan. 12, 2013, at Keahey Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John Eiland officiating. Special music will be provided by Carol Smith and Beth Cole, and interment will follow in Stone Lake Gardens.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at Keahey Funeral Home

Survivors include her husband, Al Hayse of Dozier; sons, Mike (Julie) Hayse of Andalusia and Mark (Regina) Hayse of Ft. Walton, Fla.; daughters, Pam Greenwood of Opp and Patty (Ed) Carlson of Andalusia; brother, James Carter of Defuniak Springs, Fla.; sisters, Helen Lucas of Virginia, Elsie Loos of Franklin, Ind., Minnie Jones of Port St. Lucie, Fla. and Ann Barnes of Opp; 10 grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

Mrs. Hayse is preceded in death by her sister, Lucille Bose, and her brother, Carlos Carter.

ALBERT J.

KIRKPATRICK

Albert J. Kirkpatrick, 85, passed away on Jan. 5, 2013, at his home after a short battle with lung cancer.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m., today, Sat., Jan. 12, also at Holy Tabernacle Church of Deliverance in Andalusia.

He was born in Jeanette, Pa., on Jan. 22, 1927, to Archie Augustus and Glennie Mae Kirkpatrick. The family moved to Gantt, where he went to school in Covington County.

He served in the United States Air Force during the Second World War. After leaving the military, he moved to Niagara Falls, N.Y., where he was employed by the Vanadium Steel Company until its closure. He held several other jobs in Niagara Falls including time as a mechanic for Lincoln-Mercury, before moving to Akron, Ohio, to begin a long career as an interstate truck driver.

After retirement, he spent a few more years in Akron, Ohio, before returning to Andalusia, where he resided until his passing.

He is survived by two children, Albert Vincent Kirkpatrick (Deonna) of Cleveland Heights, Ohio, and Melissa Kirkpatrick Jackson (Will) of Atlanta; three brothers, C.L. Kirkpatrick of Andalusia, Jackie L. Kirkpatrick (Katie) of Columbus, Ga., and Wilford Kirkpatrick (June) of Union City, Ga.; and three grandchildren Caleb, Laila and Michaela Kirkpatrick, all of Cleveland Heights, Ohio.

 

VONCILLE SASSER

Voncille Sasser of Andalusia passed away Wed., Jan. 9, 2013, in a local nursing facility.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., today, Sat., Jan. 12, at Keahey Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Randy Kelley officiate and the eulogy given by Meredith Riley. Interment will follow in Andalusia Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services.

Survivors include her daughter, Jennifer Peters of Andalusia; grandchildren, Meredith Peters, LeeAnn (Scott) Riley and Tiffany Sasser; great-grandchildren, Mary Katherine Riley, Ridge Riley, Erin Riley, Dillon Griggs and Emily Meek; brothers, Wayne Bryan of Opelika, James Massey of Prattville and Ray Massey of Milton, Fla.; sisters, Merle (Griffin) of Heath and Joyce Sharpe of Heath.

She was preceded in death by her husband, W.O. Sasser, and her son, Bobby Sasser.

Serving as pallbearers will be Scott Riley, Ridge Riley, Matt Griggs, Mickey Sharpe Jr., Hansel Strickland and Tony Pynes.

BERNICE WIGGINS

Bernice Wiggins of Andalusia passed away Wed., Jan. 9, 2013, in a local nursing facility.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., today, Sat., Jan. 12, at Hopewell Baptist Church with the Rev. Barry Wilkinson and the Rev. Ray Armstrong officiating and interment following in Andalusia Memorial Cemetery. Keahey Funeral Home is directing.

Survivors include her son, Roy (Faye) Wiggins; daughter, Patricia (Ray) Armstrong, all of Andalusia; grandchildren, Angelique Armstrong, Daniel Armstrong, Michael Armstrong and Troy (Robyn) Wiggins; and great-grandchildren, Melenie Armstrong,

Iiesha Lane and Jamila Williams.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Wiggins, and her granddaughter, Ronda Wiggins.
