Shanuntal Byrd scored 26 points and added five assists to help lead LBWCC to a 65-55 conference victory over Faulkner State on Saturday.

Byrd flew through FSCC’s defense in the winning effort over the Lady Sun Chiefs as the Lady Saints banked their fourth win of the season and second in the ACCC South Conference.

LBWCC led 25-23 after a close first 20 minutes, where both teams traded leads back and forth.

The Lady Saints got out of the break with a jump start and found themselves ahead 40-38 with 13:05 left in the second half.

With 9:30 left, the Lady Saints led 49-41.

Byrd later found Tori Lowe down on the inside for an easy bucket as LBWCC led 52-44 with more than six minutes left.

FSCC got to within five points with 1:29 left on a pair of free throws, but the Lady Saints never wavered and played solid defense the rest of the way.

Amiria Blakely chipped in 13 points for LBWCC. Kerria Hollaway had 11 points. Destyni Thomas and Dominique Stove had six rebounds each.

Tykeria Johnson led Faulkner State with 13 points. Tiera Henry had nine points and Lamonica Lewis had seven points.
