LBWCC’s Kyser Irby scored 17 points and had 11 rebounds to help lead the Saints to a 62-57 conference victory over Jefferson Davis Thursday night.

Irby made his presence known in the first half, draining three mid-range jumpers to aid LBW, despite his team trailing 38-33 at halftime.

The Saints and Warhawks came out with a little pep in their steps and pressed throughout the back-and-forth second half.

With 5:21 to go, Irby got a put back to cut the game to one points, and Jamicheal Lofton found Kenneth Green down low for an easy bucket to give the Saints a short-lived 53-52 lead.

On JDCC’s next offensive possession, Devonte Pope got an old-fashioned 3-ball play with 4:19 to go to give his team a 55-53 advantage.

From there, JDCC made the wrong choice to foul Lofton, who went on to make five of his last six free throws to end the game on a small 4-0 run.

Lofton paced the Saints with nine points. Green finished with six points and seven rebounds.

JDCC’s Fletcher Forte led the Warhawks with 13 points. Pope had 12 points, and Dee Braggs, Chris Oden and Adrian Rich had eight points and six rebounds each.
