IRENE C. WISE

Irene C. Wise, 76, of Andalusia, died Wed., Jan. 30, 2013, in a local hospital.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Fri., Feb. 1, at Foreman Brown-Service Funeral Home with the Rev. Derwood Cleland officiating and interment following at Andalusia Memorial Cemetery.

She is survived by her daughter, Emma Williams of Brantley; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three brothers, Cecil Carnley of Farmington, N.M., Marvin Carnley of Andalusia and Eddie Carnley of Argillite, Ky.; and a sister, Peggy Parks of Loango.

Pallbearers were Michael Williams, Josh Smithart, Nathan Williams, Chris Watson, Justin Dewrell, Jason Moseley and Trevor Dewrel.

 

HOWARD WALDEN

Howard Walden, 83, of Andalusia passed away Wed., Jan. 30, 2013.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. today, Sat., Feb. 2, at Keahey Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tim Mitchell and the Rev. Billy Boles officiating. Burial will follow in Stone Lake Gardens Cemetery with Keahey Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include his wife, Vela Garrett Walden of Andalusia; sons, Jeffrey Earl (Ethel) Walden of Enterprise and Keith (Susie) Walden of Andalusia; stepson, Wade (Cindy) Garrett of Andalusia; sister, Jeanette Evans of Autaugaville; six grandchildren, Blake Walden, Michael Paul Walden, Todd Walden, Daniel Walden, Matthew Walden and Megan Gantt; and four great-grandchildren, Madison Walden, Peyton Walden, Anna Belle Gantt and Abigail Walden.

He was preceded in death by his son, Howard Walden Jr., and his first wife, Jerry Ann Walden.

SHELIA DIANE GUNTER

Mrs. Shelia Diane Gunter, 56, of Andalusia passed away Wed., Jan. 29, 2013, in a Pensacola hospital.

Funeral services were held 10:30 a.m., Fri., Feb. 1, 2013, at Keahey Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Ed Ganus officiated. Burial followed in Carolina Baptist Church cemetery.

Survivors include her husband, Buddy Gunter of Andalusia; father, Hilary Mathews of Rose Hill; stepson, Kevin (Sheila) Gunter, Andalusia; daughter, Danielle Gunter, Andalusia; stepdaughter, Cathy Ann Reeves, Andalusia; brothers, Hilary (Tonya) Mathews, III of Andalusia and Emmett Matthew of Rose Hill; her sisters, Jyneese Matthews, Rose Hill, and Hilda Philyaw, Alabaster; several step-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.

Cora Lee Phelps Peevy Butler

Cora Lee Phelps Peevy Butler, 94, died Feb. 1, 2013.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 26 years, Perry Leroy Peevy; her parents, John and Effie Phelps; her sisters, Jewel Lollie, Mayomie Smith and Sally Batson; and her brothers, Walter, Carson, Lonzie, Leamon and Arthur Phelps.

She retired from Andala after 43 years.

She had been married to B.L. Butler for the past 41 years.

Survivors include Tom and Lucy Butler, Clyde and Elaine Butler, Marie and Wheeler Foshee III, Billy and Edgena Hassell, Mitchell Devone and Betty Kendrick, Jeanette and Pete Malwitz, and Mary Jean Cox; her sister, Pearl P. Scott; 15 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Mon., Feb. 4, in Andalusia Memorial Cemetery on Stanley Avenue.

 

Betty Gunter Jackson

Mrs. Betty Gunter Jackson, 78, of Andalusia passed away Friday in the Andalusia hospital.

Funeral services are incomplete and will be announced later by Keahey Funeral Home.

 

Lorene DeMoss

Mrs. Lorene DeMoss, 88, of Red Level, died Fri., Feb. 1, 2013, in an Opp nursing facility. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Mon., Feb. 4, 2013, at Foreman Brown-Service Funeral Home with minister Larry Turman officiating. Interment will follow at Fairmount Cemetery.

Mrs. DeMoss was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow DeMoss, a daughter, Betty DeMoss, and a son, Marvin Kervin.

Mrs. DeMoss is survived by a daughter, Kathy DeMoss Phillips (Eugene) of Brantley; grandchildren, Angie Spivey (Jeff) of Brantley, Stacie Baggett of Milton, Fla.; great-grandchildren, Garrett Goodson of Red Level, Beau Chandler Spivey and Jon Thomas Spivey of Brantley, Seabrin Blocker, Blayne Blocker, and Bryce Baggett of Milton, Fla.; a sister, Dolly Williams of Pensacola; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to flowers, memorials may be made to Alzerhemer’s research. Visitation will be after 4:30 p.m. Sunday at Foreman’s.

 

Cynthia Ballard Harper

Mrs. Cynthia Ballard Harper, 52, of Andalusia, died on Jan. 31, 2013, at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sun., Feb. 3, 2013, from the Foreman Funeral Home chapel. The Rev. Bobby Morgan and the Rev. Billy Boles will officiate. Interment will be in the Harper Family Cemetery.

Mrs. Harper is survived by her husband, Johnny Harper of Andalusia; a step-daughter, Stephanie Harper (Brad) Riney of Denton, Texas; three brothers, Jimmy (Valerie) Ballard, Allen Ballard and girlfriend Debbie Kilpatrick, and Harrison (Gayle) Hayes all of Andalusia; one step-grandchild, Tyce Riney ; a niece, Karma Carpenter, and a nephew, Trevor Hayes; and a sister-in-law, Iris Ballard of Andalusia.

Mrs. Harper was preceded in death by her stepson, Robby Harper, and her parents, Virgil and Ethelyn Campbell.

Pallbearers will be Jimbo Caton, Tommy Glisson, Sam Studstill, Rob Martin, Donald Hinson and Dale Glisson.

The body will lie in state from 11:30 Sunday at Foreman Funeral Home.

Wille C. Taylor

Wille C. Taylor, 58, of Mobile, died Tues., Jan. 29, 2013.

Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. on Mon., Feb. 4, 2013, at the Kiwanis Community Center. The Rev. Henry May will officiate. Burial will follow at Marshall Memorial Cemetery in Andalusia.

Survivors include his wife, Mary C. Taylor of Mobile; his children, and grandchildren. He has six sisters, five brothers, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Gordon Lee Stokes

Mr. Gordon Lee Stokes, 78, of Vernon, Fla., died Jan. 31, 2013, in a Panama City, Fla., hospital. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. today, Sat., Feb. 2, 2013, from the Foreman Funeral Home chapel. Interment will be in the Wing Cemetery. The Rev. Randall Jackson and the Rev. Lindsey Martin will officiate.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Lois Stokes of Vernon, Fla.; two sons, Daniel Lee (Betty) Stokes of Florala and Gordon Brett (Jessica) Stokes of Chattanooga, Tenn.; one daughter, Kathy Stokes Chance of Crestview, Fla.; two step-children, Patricia ( Jerry) Morris and Terry (Robert) King, all of Panama City, Fla.; five grandchildren; one brother, Gary (Sue) Stokes of Pensacola, Fla., and five sisters, Janice Hart and Mary Mathews of Pensacola, Audrey (Bobby) Murphy of Pace, Fla., Frances Fallon of Norfolk, Va., and Doris Kent of Panama City, Fla.

The family will receive friends at noon Saturday at Foreman Funeral Home.
