Davidson reminds us we all can make a difference

Need proof that one person can make a difference?

Look no further than Florala, where Caleb Davidson started with a vision of raising money to help a cancer patient, and has several years later grown his event, Cancer Freeze, into a focus for a whole community.

Literally hundreds of people turned out to help him and this year’s beneficiaries on Saturday, and they raised almost $40,000 for the cause in a very tough economy.

Some ran, some fished, some braved the frigid waters of Lake Jackson on skis. Some ate breakfast, some ate lunch. Some cooked. Some bid on auction items.

But they all came because one man had a vision and shared it with a community. They came because they cared about this year’s recipients or last year’s recipients, or because they had been a recipient and they wanted to help.

He reminds all of us that we each can make a difference, and hopefully inspires us to try.

Congratulations to Davidson and his team of organizers for a great event.
