Covington County NAACP President Aaron Bogen said Thursday that the organization needs more members.

“I want to let everyone know that we need about 20 more members,” he said. “This organization is for everyone in Covington County — Florala, Red Level, Straughn, Andalusia, Pleasant Home — everyone.”

The local group was reorganized in December, and 50 members are needed to reinstate the chapter.

“I want Covington County as a whole to be fair,” Bogen said. “All we are trying to do is be fair. This organization is not just for black people. It’s for people of all colors.”

Membership is $30 per person, he said.

Bogen said the next meeting is scheduled for Saturday at 5 p.m. at the Hardin Street Community Center.
