Rains close 4 roads

This week’s nearly continuous rains have prompted four road closures, County Engineer Darren Capps said Wednesday.

Beaver Drive was the first county road closed after severe weather moved through the area. Since Monday, rain has continuously fallen, prompting river flood warnings for the Conecuh River at Brewton. That warning remains in effect through Friday.

“We’ve got a total of four road closures, which include Cravey Bridge Road, Bass Bridge Road and Johnson Quarters Road,” he said. “All over, we’ve got sloppy roads because of the rain, small washes and erosions. My advice to people is – be careful when driving. It’s wet and boggy on the shoulders. They’re soft because of the rain.”
