Civitan Rodeo numbers dwindle, show a success

Crowd numbers at the civitan rodeo may have been dampened over the weekend, but the more than 200 contestants put on a good show at the annual fundraiser for the local civic club, Andalusia Civitan Rodeo committee president Bert Champion said.barrel

“We had a good crowd,” he said. “We probably had close to 600 on Friday night and about 1,200 on Saturday, which is down a little bit because of the weather.”

The Civitan Rodeo is the civic club’s biggest fundraiser, and Champion said they are still counting how much funds were raised.

“We’re still getting numbers,” he said.

Compared to other rodeos sponsored by the club, Champion said overall the weather kept the crowd numbers down.

Additionally, the committee president did say the club is planning on holding another rodeo next year.

“As far as I know we’ll do it again next year,” Champion said.

Maybe the rain will be gone by then.
