Hiten Patel’s two goals and one assist helped lift Andalusia to a 3-2 soccer victory over Northview-Dothan on Thursday night at Bulldogs Stadium.

Patel’s goals and assist came in the second half, where AHS (4-0) outscored Northview 3-1.

Will Parker scored off of Patel’s assist in the second half.

Andalusia trailed 1-0 at halftime.

AHS soccer coach Tim Ramsden said the team, as a whole, looked “flat” in the first half.

“We were a couple steps too slow,” he said. “We didn’t go to the ball very well. We let them really control the midfield.

“Defensively, we really didn’t look too bad in that first half,” he said.

Ramsden said he let the team have a big piece of his mind during the break.

“I was more than little bit upset at halftime and that really just put a fire under them,” he said. “They came out and played totally different in the second half.”

The Bulldogs led 3-1 with more than 13 minutes to go in the game.

Northview-Dothan was later yellow-carded for having one-too many men on the field.

Dothan’s goal in the second half came as a result of Andalusia’s defense falling apart in the end, Ramsden said.

“We were a little bit tired and a little lackadaisical, but hey, I’ll take that win,” he said.

AHS’ goals in the second half came within a seven-to-eight minute time frame, the coach said.

“They’ve got a lot of skill,” Ramsden said about Northview. “They’re well coached. That’s a good win for us.”

Andalusia will be back in action on Monday at 7 p.m., where it will start area play against Houston Academy at home.
