Pleasant Home’s Lady Eagles have already made a statement for themselves in this young season.

The latest statement can be read in the Alabama Sports Writers Association’s first softball poll, which was released today.

After a no-hitter performance by PHS pitcher Ashley Copeland on Tuesday night in a 10-0 area win over Florala, the Lady Eagles are at No. 3 in Class 1A.

PHS improved to 2-1 overall, and 2-0 in Class 1A, Area 3 with the win earlier this week.

The Lady Eagles will be back in action on Saturday in Andalusia’s annual high school tournament at the Dwight Mikel Sports Complex.

Opp, in Class 3A, was nominated in the softball poll, but wasn’t ranked.

In baseball, Andalusia (8-2) was nominated, but not ranked.
