LBWCC sweeps Jeff Davis

LBWCC swept Jefferson Davis in a conference doubleheader on Saturday at Crum Foshee Field in Andalusia.

The Saints beat the Hawks 10-0 in game one, and edged the team from Brewton 3-1 in game two.

LBWCC (14-5, 5-1 in ACCC South) will be back in action today in another conference doubleheader against Faulkner State.

LBWCC 10, JDCC 0

Clark Gray threw a 1-hiter and struck out two in four innings to lead the Saints on the mound.

The game was scoreless until the third inning, where LBWCC scored three runs to take a 3-0 lead.

LBWCC went on to add three runs in the fifth and four runs in the sixth to force the mercy rule.

Charlie Spencer went 3-for-3 with two RBIs and scored two runs to lead the Saints. Ryan Barnes and Trevor Maxey had two hits each.

Brandon Mayhann went 1-for-3 with two RBIs and scored one run.

Trey Chambers and Eric Walding went 1-for-3 and had an RBI each.

JDCC’s Hunter Myrick, Logan Hill and Alex Jones had one hit each for the Hawks.

LBWCC 3, JDCC 1

LBWCC’s Alex Stevens and Thomas Dorminy combined for a 3-hitter, and Chambers strung together to hits to lead the Saints.

Stevens earned the win on the mound, striking out four batters while allowing one run on two hits in 4.1 innings.

Dorminy struck out four and allowed no runs on one hit in 2.2 innings.

The Saints struck first scoring one run each in the third and fourth innings.

JDCC tied the game in the top of the fourth at 1-all.

LBWCC added an insurance run and the Saints defense held the Hawks scoreless in the top of the seventh.

Combined, LBWCC and JDCC had seven hits in the game.

Kyle Freeman led JDCC and went 2-for-3 with an RBI.
