Opp baseball, softball are ranked; PHS falls to No. 3

Opp has found its way on this week’s Alabama Sports Writers Association’s baseball rankings.

The now No. 8 Bobcats improved to 8-2 overall last week after defeating Red Level in doubleheader action on Friday.

Earlier in the week, the Class 3A Bobcats split with a good Andalusia baseball team, who is not ranked in Class 4A, but was nominated. The Bulldogs are 13-2 overall.

In the softball poll, the Lady Bobcats of Opp shot to the No. 10 spot in Class 3A rankings for the first time this season.

The Lady Bobcats (7-0) are coming off of a 4-1 victory over then Class 1A second-ranked Kinston on Tuesday night.

On Saturday, OHS beat the Lady Eagles of Pleasant Home twice to become the Andalusia High School softball tournament champion.

Pleasant Home dropped one spot to No. 3 after falling to 6-3 on the season. The Lady Eagles beat New Brockton 4-2 on Tuesday night.
