Summer may be a few months away, but the Opp Cultural Arts Council is planning for a vacation filled with fun, organizers said Thursday.

Jan Breedlove, who organizes children’s art education for the non-profit, said that she plans to have two weeklong opportunities for rising kindergarteners through eight graders to participate in the arts this summer.

Dates have not been set yet, but one camp will be in June and the other in July.

The classes will be broken up into two age groups with the younger students having a morning class and the older ones having an afternoon class.

Breedlove said she hopes to have Emily Albright teach the class, but whoever teaches it will use the theme “Camp with the Masters.”

During the weeklong camp, students will travel through time learning different styles from art masters such as Henri Matisse, who is known for his painting, printmaking, sculpture and drawing; Claude Monet, who was a well-known impressionist painter; Dale Chihuly, an American glass artist, who work is showcased at the Bellagio hotel and casino on the Las Vegas Strip and Joan Miro, a Catalan painter, sculptor and ceramicist known for surrealism.

Cost is $100 for the week, Breedlove said they will take a minimum of eight and a maximum of 12 students.
