Good inning lifts Lady Eagles over Straughn

Pleasant Home’s big inning in the bottom of the sixth propelled the Lady Eagles to a 10-4 victory over Straughn tonight.

PHS coach Bradley Stephens said Straughn’s a good ball team and hit the ball well.

“We did a good job of making routine plays,” Stephens said.

Ashley Copeland earned the win for PHS on the mound, and Abby Walker got the save.

Caitlin Jernigan went 3-for-4 with three singles to lead at the plate. Copeland went 2-for-4 with a triple.

Brentley Armstrong led SHS and went 2-for-2. Molly Stewart and Paige Taylor were 2-for-4 each.

With this win, the Lady Eagles improve to 8-3 on the season, and the Lady Tigers fall to 4-3.

Pleasant Home visits Brantley tomorrow night. Straughn will host Southside Selma for an area doubleheader on Friday.

PHS finishes 1-2 at Andalusia JV tourney

The Lady Eagles’ junior varsity squad beat elba 10-9 on Saturday for their only win of the day.

Enterprise beat PHS 11-1; and Elba got revenge in their fifth game of the day with power hitting.
