CEC annual meeting tonight

Covington Electric Cooperative’s annual membership meeting will be held today, Thurs., April 4, at the Kiwanis Community Center.

Registration will begin at 3 p.m.; entertainment starts around 5 p.m.; and the business session begins at 7 p.m. The Inspirations, and local gospel group Southland, will entertain during the meeting.

More than 30 attendance prizes will be given to lucky CEC members at this year’s meeting. The major prizes to be given away are: a 2001 Chevrolet Venture minivan; a 5’ x 10’ utility trailer; a flat screen TV; a $300 Visa gift card, a $200 Visa gift card and an electric grill with rotisserie. Each CEC member who registers at the meeting will receive a free cutting board, light bulb and other useful gifts. Members must be properly registered at the meeting to be eligible to win a prize. During a brief business session, a report on CEC operations will be presented, and two members will be elected to three-year terms on the board of trustees to represent Districts III and IV. Nominees named by the nominating committee to be voted on for possible election to the board are:

• District III: Willie B. Smith and Larry Morgan, both of Brantley; and,

• District IV: Heflin Smith and Lonnie Hataway, both of Kinston.

Willie B. Smith and Heflin Smith are incumbent trustees for Districts III and IV respectively.
