Opp scored six runs in the third inning and beat Andalusia 10-1 in softball action on Tuesday night.

The Lady Bobcats led 1-0 after the first inning, scored their six runs in the third and added one run in the sixth and two in the seventh in the win.

“I thought we had a solid game, but we left a lot of runners on base,” OHS coach Jimmy Reeves said. “That’s something we’ve got to work on. We weren’t real sharp coming off that break.

“Considering we were coming off of spring break, the girls played a solid game,” he said.

The third inning scoring spree started with Savannah Gerber reaching on a single. Kelly Pierce then hit a bunt single to put two runners on base.

Laiken Free hit a bases-clearing double to put OHS ahead 3-0. Octavia Thompson then singled Free home; Courtney Chatham singled Thompson in; Anna Harrelson walked and Paige Johnson reached on an error.

Katie Spurlin then doubled Harrelson and Johnson home to end the scoring for the Lady Bobcats, who led 7-0.

Andalusia scored its only run in the bottom of the third inning when Tori Cleghorn singled and scored on a ground out by Olivia Dixon.

In the sixth inning, Thompson doubled and later scored on Tori Reisnour’s single.

OHS scored its last two runs in the seventh when Gerber and Pierce scored on a Free single.

Katlynn Schively earned the win on the mound, pitching three innings. Chatham and Harrelson pitched two scoreless innings each.

Pierce went 3-for-4 and scored three runs; Thompson went 4-for-5 and scored two runs to lead OHS.

The Lady Bobcats improve to 13-3 overall on the season.

In junior varsity action, the Lady Bobcats won 16-3.

Tiffani Dean pitched three scoreless innings and was 3-for-3 at the plate. Charlie Edwards went 2-for-2 and scored two runs.

OHS hosts Enterprise today at 4 p.m., starting with junior varsity action.
