In the Sat., June 8, edition of The Star-News, the sports section left out an honorable mention selection on the 2013 Alabama Sports Writers Association Class 3A All-State Softball Team.

Octavia Thompson, an outfielder for Opp, was also an honorable mention selection on the team.

Thompson had a .450 batting average for the 2013 season.

She had 54 hits along with 27 RBIs and struck out 11 times.

Additionally, Opp’s Laiken Free and Straughn’s Paige Tayloer were honorable mention selections.

Taylor, at first base, had a .393 batting average, while Free batted a .377 for the season.

The Star-News was happy to give Thompson her recognition.
