HAROLD GENE MERRILL

Harold Gene Merrill, 76, of Red Level, passed away on Sun., June 9, 2013, in a Troy nursing Home.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m., today, Wed., June 12, at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Red Level, with Brother Merrill Davis officiating and Foreman Funeral Home directing. Visitation with family will be at the cemetery.

He is survived by two sisters, Erva Ree Odom of Red Level and Merlene Yancey of Troy; a sister-in-law, Ruth Merrill of Plant City, Fla.; his nieces and nephews, Susan and Ben Pynes of Luverne, Diane Childs of Troy, Wendell and Patricia Wells of Luverne and Alan and Cindy Merrill of Plant City, Fla.; 13 great-nieces and great-nephews; and four great-great-nephews.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Nell Mitchell Merrill; a daughter, Barbara Ann Merrill; parents, J. J. “Buster” and Dots Sasser Merrill; a brother, J. Douglas Merrill, and nephew, Andy Yancey.

RUFUS SAMUEL HASSELL

Rufus Samuel Hassell, 83, of Andalusia, passed away on Mon. June 9, 2013, in a Pensacola, Fla., hospital.

Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m., today, Wed., June 12, at Andalusia Memorial Cemetery with Brother Anthony Clark officiating and Foreman Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Findley Hassell of Andalusia; his daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Danny McLeod of Gantt; a son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Charlotte Powell of Bay Minette; daughter-in-law, Tempie Powell of Huntsville; his grandchildren, Leigh Powell of Bay Minette, Selena McDonald of Fairhope, Mendy Neal of Dickson, Tenn., Wendy Greek of Bay Minette, Casey McLeod of Auburn and Elizabeth McLeod of Destin, Fla.; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

He is preceded in death by his son, Jerry Powell; daughter Elizabeth Ann Hassell; and parents, Sam and Susie Hassell.

Pallbearers will be Casey McLeod, Rocky Barber, Mathew McDonald, Jerry Greek, Alex Powell and Mitch Powell.

George W. Evans, Jr., 64, of the Carolina Community, passed away Monday June 10, 2013 at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Fri., June 14, at the West Highland Assembly of God with the Rev. Joel Calhoun officiating and interment following in Carolina Cemetery.

Visitation will be at Foreman Funeral Home tonight from 6-8 and at the church 30 minutes prior to services.

Rex Cornel Jones, 79, of Gantt, passed away on Sat., June 8, 2013, at his residence.
