GEORGE W. EVANS JR.

George W. Evans, Jr., 64, of the Carolina Community, passed away Monday June 10, 2013 at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Fri., June 14, at the West Highland Assembly of God with the Rev. Joel Calhoun officiating and interment following in Carolina Cemetery.

Visitation will be at Foreman Funeral Home tonight from 6-8 and at the church 30 minutes prior to services.

Survivors include his wife, Debora Lynn Evans of the Carolina Community; his son and daughter-in-law, George William “Billy” and Carmen Evans III of Portland, Texas; his daughters and sons-in-law, Chrystal and John Nelley of Spotville, Ky., and Rebecca Evans and Delores and Johnny Douglas, all of Andalusia; his grandchildren, Anna Evans, Tyler Nelley, Mallory Nelley, Dylan Stinson, Trenton Cender, Courtney Douglas and Caylee Douglas; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Howard and Montrel Evans and Jesse Wayne and Patsy Evans, all of Delhi, La., and Marvin and Naomi Evans of Evergreen; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Pansy Garner of West Monroe, La., Betty Graham and May Ann and Randy Ford, all of Delhi, La., and Gladys and Bob Cain of Calhoun, La., and Viola and Dwight Lucas of Delhi, La.; several nieces and nephews; and his sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Teresa and Randy Cannon and Shelia Greer of Andalusia

He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Sarah Elizabeth Evans Sr.; sisters, Louise Evans, Georgia Joan Evans Durr; and brothers, Bill and Carl Evans.

BERNICE MAXINE STRINGER

Bernice Maxine Stringer, 88 of Atmore, passed on Tues. June 11, 2013, in Brewton.

She was a secretary with Civil Service, born on May 8, 1925 in Covington County, to the late Wilson A. and Bernice Hart. She was of the Pentecostal faith.

Funeral services will be held on Fri., June 14, at 10 a.m., from the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jimmie Colley officiating and interment following in Serenity Gardens.

Visitation will be held at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home tonight from 6-8.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Stringer of Atmore; three daughters, Gayle Crause of Andalusia, Donna (Paul) Charpie of Arab and Linda Mock of Brewton; and five grandchildren, Mike Mancil, Chris Mancil, Sondra Baker, Kellie Helms and Justin Payne.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Katie Hart.

 

RUFUS SAMUEL HASSELL

Rufus Samuel Hassell, 83, of Andalusia, passed away on Mon. June 9, 2013, in a Pensacola, Fla., hospital.

Graveside services were held on Wed., June 12, at Andalusia Memorial Cemetery with Brother Anthony Clark officiating and Foreman Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Findley Hassell of Andalusia; his daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Danny McLeod of Gantt; a son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Charlotte Powell of Bay Minette; daughter-in-law, Tempie Powell of Huntsville; his grandchildren, Leigh Powell of Bay Minette, Selena McDonald of Fairhope, Mendy Neal of Dickson, Tenn., Wendy Greek of Bay Minette, Casey McLeod of Auburn and Elizabeth McLeod of Destin, Fla.; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

He is preceded in death by his son, Jerry Powell; daughter, Elizabeth Ann Hassell; and parents, Sam and Susie Hassell.

Pallbearers were Casey McLeod, Rocky Barber, Mathew McDonald, Jerry Greek, Alex Powell and Mitch Powell.
