GLADYS POSEY

Gladys Posey of Andalusia passed away on Wed., Aug. 14, 2013, at her residence.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Foreman Funeral Home.

 

LILLIE PERDUE HOWARD

Lillie Perdue Howard, born June 2, 1924, and died Aug. 7, 2013, was the first African American female registered to vote in Covington County.

She was an educator for nearly four decades in the Covington County and Pickens County school systems. She was active until her death in the Pickens County Retired Teachers Association. She was married to the late Roy Howard of Carrollton.

She is survived by sons, Larry Howard and Gary (Ladora) Howard; grandchildren, Breton, Royce, and Lauren Howard; sister-in-law, Adell Garrett and Rowena Perdue, brother-in-law, Warren Temple; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, former students and friends.

Public visitation will be held today, Thurs., Aug. 15, at Lavender’s Funeral Service, located at 11233 Hwy 17 South in Aliceville. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Fri., Aug. 16, at Pine Grove Baptist Church, located 9004 Hwy 86 in Carrollton, with the Rev. Carlos Calhoun officiating. Interment will follow in the Pine Grove Memorial Garden Cemetery.

 

THOMAS CRAWFORD CHAVERS

Thomas Crawford Chavers, 87, of Andalusia, passed away on Mon., Aug. 12, 2013, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., today, Thurs., Aug. 15, at Beda Baptist Church with Keahey Funeral Home directing and the Rev. Jonathan Jones and the Rev. Glenn Hutto officiating. Special music will be provided by his granddaughter, Jennifer Withrow. Interment will follow in Beda Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive 30 minutes prior to services at Beda Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 65 Years, Mary Rosie Bell Smith Chavers of Andalusia; sons, Thomas Larry (Susan) Chavers of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., and Mark Timothy (Jenny) Chavers of Prattville; daughters, Evelyn (Dennis) Heichel and Dianne (Wade) Jones, all of Andalusia; brothers, Joe Mac Chavers of Rochester, N.Y., and Robert Chavers of Lakeland, Fla.; sisters, Bedie Davis of Evergreen and Nell (Hinton) Boggan of Wing; grandchildren, Denise (Wade) Ivey, Jennifer (Forrest) Withrow, Laura (Jim) Hartline, Jereme (Jessica) Jones, Jonathan (Lindsey) Jones, Shaun (Amanda) Jackson, Thomas Yancey Chavers, April Whitbeck, Stephanie (Chris) Kadleitz, Jaleh Chavers, Hayden Chavers and Sarah (Austin) Teeter; and 17 great-grandchildren.

JOHN CARLTON FINDLEY

John Carlton Findley, 59, of Andalusia, passed away Tues., Aug. 13, 2013, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., today, Thurs., Aug. 15, from Foreman Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Horace Franklin officiating and interment following in Fairmount Cemetery in Red Level.

Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, John Ashley and Sabrina Findley of Dozier, Jeff and Iris Findley of Andalusia and Jay and Stacie Findley of Newport, Tenn.; his daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly and Marcus Douglas of Andalusia; his grandchildren, Ashlee Findley, Kellen Findley, Kaylor Findley, Jacob Douglas, Adriana Henderson and Nolan Henderson; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Roy Lee Findley, Thomas Findley and Donald Ray and Myra Jackson, of Andalusia; and one sister, Mary Hinson of Opp.

HEATHER MARIE HENDERSON PINCKARD

Heather Marie Henderson Pinckard, 24, of Red Level, passed away on Tues., Aug. 13, 2013, at her residence.

Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m., Fri., Aug. 16, from Foreman Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Nathan Headrick, the Rev. Ferron Smith and the Rev. Stan Holley officiating. Interment will follow in Andalusia Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will be tonight from 5-8 at Foreman Funeral Home.

Survivors include her daughter, Kaitlynn Elizabeth Pinckard; her parents, Jerry and Kay Henderson; two sisters and brother-in-law, Cynthia Williams and Brenda Kay and Jeremy Williamson, all of Red Level; and brother, Draiman Thomas Mefford of Crestview, Fla.

Pallbearers will be Brandon Beard, Joseph Henderson, Derrek Cross, Carl Johnson, David Johnson, Aarron Johnson, Michael Hall,Gabe Bass, Nate Bass and Tommy Castleberry.

She is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Dot “Tippin” Hall and Gloria Hall; her paternal grandparents, James Henderson and Mary Henderson Hall; uncles, Donnie Hall and Timmy Henderson; and a cousin, April Worley.

Nettie Marie Hicks, 79, of Andalusia, passed away Tues., Aug. 13, 2013, in the Andalusia hospital.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Fri., Aug. 16, from Foreman Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Greg Cotter and the Rev. Ed Ganus officiating and interment following in Oakey Ridge Cemetery.

Visitation will be tonight from 6-8 at Foreman Funeral Home.

Survivors include her husband, Wead Hicks of Andalusia; her son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Debbie Hicks; her daughter, Lisa Hicks; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; her sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Ronnie Skiff of Franklinton, N.C.; brother-in-law, Dan (Nell) Hicks of Dade City, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.
