The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch extending from 7 Friday night until 7 Sunday night for portions of South Central Alabama and Northwest Florida, including Covington County.

Three to 5 inches of rain is expected, and some areas could get 8 to 10 inches of rain.

An urban and small stream flood advisory was issued for the southern part of Covington County Saturday morning after a series of showers and thunderstorms produced one to two inches of rain in a period of about an hour.  Locations impacted were Florala, Lockhart and Laurel Hill. The advisory is in effect until 9 a.m.
