Opp routs Elba, 42-6

Opp outscored Elba 27-0 in the second half as the Bobcats beat the Tigers 42-6 in a rout Friday night.

Opp’s Orlando Lacey scored two touchdowns to lead the Bobcats in their season-opener at EHS.

Onterrio Jones scampered in from the 1-yard line to put the Bobcats ahead 7-0 with 1:20 left in the first quarter.

Elba cut the game to one point with 24.5 seconds left in the opening quarter to net its only TD of the night.

Lacey’s first touchdown came at the 5:36 mark of the second quarter from 25 yards out. With the 2-point conversion, OHS led 15-6.

Lacey added another 25-yard TD rush early in the third quarter to put the Bobcats ahead for good at 21-6.

Ty White had a 20-yard TD rush on fourth down, and Tavise Stoudemire punched the ball in from 27 yards with 3:56 left in the fourth to give OHS a healthy 35-6 advantage.

To end the game on a high note, Opp’s Justin Atkins returned an interception for a touchdown with 1:48 left in the game.

The Bobcats play host to T.R. Miller next week to start region play.
