A Florala man is facing a slew of charges after he allegedly tried to strangle his girlfriend Sunday.

Florala Chief Sonny Bedsole said Monday that Robert Henry Bryant, 27, is charged with five counts of reckless endangerment, domestic violence/strangulation, public intoxication and obstruction of governmental operations as a result of the incident

“Officers were dispatched on a 911 call to a home on 12th Avenue, and when they arrived, determined it was a domestic situation,” Bedsole said. “They spoke with the victim – Mr. Bryant’s domestic partner – who stated the couple got into an argument when Mr. Bryant threw dishes through the house, grabbed her and choked her.”

Bedsole said there were four children in the home during the time of the incident.

Bryant is currently being held in the Covington County Jail under a $115,000 bond.
